PBG, the world's largest manufacturer, seller and distributor of Pepsi-Cola beverages, employs a company-wide green attitude and recognizes the need to "partner" with a waste handler that is not interested in land-filling but rather aims to achieve zero waste. Together, PBG and Evergreen have diverted more than 400 tons of material in 2008 from the landfill by recycling various grades of plastic, paper, steel, and cardboard.

PBG recently built a new 427,000-square-foot production and bottling facility in the southwest Las Vegas Valley. The custom-built facility, a major County employer and landmark Pepsi site both in technology and capital investment, features three production lines, a warehouse and distribution center. PBG currently recycles about 90% of its waste and is diligently trying to bring that number to 100% by incorporating recycling in all of its production, merchandising, and office operations along with onsite liquid waste treatment.

The local Las Vegas facility embodies the commitment PBG is making to produce less waste and improve communities all across the country.

Happy New Year from our family at Evergreen Recycling to yours! As we enter 2009 and evaluate the current economic conditions we are optimistic and hopeful the New Year will bring many opportunities to those who look for them. Our passion and focus will remain the preservation of our environment and finding innovative ways of preserving our natural resources.

In alignment with this focus, we are working on a special project with the UNR Small Business Development department to re-purpose woody biomass from our forests and urban environment for beneficial use. Since thousands of tons of this material are buried in landfills every year, we are hopeful that these collaborative efforts will bear fruit in 2009.

With these efforts, we strive to be an environmental resource partner and educator within our state and local business community. There is no better time than the present to evaluate your current sustainability practices and consider integrating recycling into your corporate culture. We have developed custom programs to make recycling convenient and simple.

As always we welcome new partners in sustainability. Feel free to contact us for more information on how your business can stand out in the community and start recycling.

In closing, we leave you with this thought:
"One of the secrets of life is to make stepping stones out of stumbling blocks"
As we all adjust our business models as a consequence of the current economic conditions, search for the opportunities in your industry to be successful and plan for the future. If we know anything, we know the future will come.
