Founded in 1966 and headquartered in Boca Raton, FL, Bluegreen Corporation (NYSE:BXG) is the leader in providing Colorful Places to Live and Play(R) through its vacation ownership resort and residential real estate business segments. With more than 3,100 employees, each is equally passionate about delivering extraordinary experiences for their owners, travelers and business partners. Club 36, which opened its doors in August 2008, is Bluegreen’s first resort in the western US. Although they are a vacation ownership resort, they also offer rooms for rent on a nightly basis. Many Bluegreen Resorts are certified as "Green Lodging" in their respective states.

Bluegreen Resort Club 36 has been an Evergreen customer since May 2009; to date we have recycled and diverted from landfills 823 cubic yards, weighing 28.87 tons of recyclable material. Material which includes paper, plastic, aluminum and glass from employees, guest rooms and various retail tenants. "It is very helpful that we as the client do not have to separate any waste, it can all be commingled. This made it much easier to get everyone on board and participate in our recycling efforts," said Erna Barton, Assistant GM.

Each room on the property has a guest notice posted on the refrigerator explaining the property's recycling program and what can be recycled. Guest are also given convenient biodegradable green bags for their recyclable items. Additionally, they no longer have paper comment cards, guests are directed to go online to complete comment cards electronically. This prevents creating additional paper waste. Posters are visible throughout the property with the slogan; "There is more GREEN in Bluegreen", which encourage guests to turn down the A/C when not in the room, turn off lights, reuse towels and linens, report leaks etc. The property has recently converted to using recycled toilet and facial tissue as well. "Our waste disposal account has been consistently lower than budgeted since we started working with Evergreen," said Erna Barton, Assistant GM. Prior to working with Evergreen the property did not recycle much at all.

We applaud Bluegreen Resorts Club 36 for there green initiatives and sustainable business practices that are now a permanent part of their culture and daily operations. They are industry leaders and have certainly set a standard of environmental responsibility within the hospitality community. Visit www.bluegreencorp.com for more information.
